Lately, I have been craving softer, flowy and fun pieces in my wardrobe. Looking back over my outfits from the last year, I think becoming an aunt and constantly being in a more playful state with my nephew has had a lot of influence on my outfits without me even realizing it. I am leaning into it because it feels good; it feels like a return to a younger more carefree version of myself who loved to play in clothes. As I begin curating my wardrobe for the transition from late summer into early fall, I’m starting with what I already own. I am pulling out the pieces that complement this emotional state and filling any gaps (more on my intentional shopping process here) accordingly across my go-to retailers, starting with SSENSE.
Scrolling through SSENSE feels more like a ritual for me. I can spend hours on the site with my feet up on my desk chair, music in the background or through my Bose headphones, coming across brands that expand my taste. I don’t know how to explain it, but oftentimes, scrolling and adding to my wishlist on SSENSE gives me the same feeling I get when putting the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle together. It may be because after adding items that catch my eye to my wishlist, I then go through the wishlist to see if there are any common themes. This helps me understand the bigger picture of the direction of my style I am feeling called to express and I simply lean in.
Some new SSENSE additions to my late summer and fall wardrobe:
Vivienne Westwood Hebo Top – I already own this in black and it’s easily one of the hardest-working tops in my wardrobe. I decided to get this color because I feel it’s a great autumnal option. I would definitely want to wear this color in the spring as well.
Abra Fringe Skirt – Tapping into that playful energy I’ve been in these days. My plan is to also pull it up and style it as a top.
Vivienne Westwood Pearl Necklace – Had my eye on the many variations of this necklace for a while. I like the idea of using it to elevate a simple t-shirt or button down.
Jacquemus baseball cap – An easy cap that I can throw on to complete an outfit, great for vacation outfits, and easy to pack.
Paloma Wool Gray Caly Leggings – I have very minimal interest in wearing jeans these days; my current emotional state is also craving elevated comfort. From a distance, it looks like a soft bubble skirt layered over matching tights but it’s actually a single piece.
Vivienne Westwood Ella Cardigan – A classic knit that feels more feminine that I will reach for on cool summer days, early fall, and spring.
